2023 Coworking Europe Conference, Porto

26th November 2023

This week we’re attending the annual Coworking Europe Conference as Ruby Sponsors. The event is taking place from 27th to 29th November in Porto, Portugal and we’re really looking forward to discussing the different facets of the coworking industry with our fellow professionals.

The Coworking Europe Conference was launched in Brussels back in 2010. It’s the largest community of coworking and flexible office operators, real estate brokers and developers, consultants, architects, designers, technology and service providers and stakeholders worldwide.

The conference kicks off on Monday when local coworking businesses open their doors so delegates can visit some of Porto’s most exciting coworking and co-living spaces. That evening we are hosting a pre-conference meetup drinks and canapés event, which will be a great opportunity to meet our fellow attendees before the conference programme starts the next day.

Coworking Europe aims to facilitate the transition from the traditional workplace model towards a sustainable, human focused WaaS (Workspace as a Service) model. The best coworking world experts and practitioners will share their thoughts, insights and ideas during the event – our Chief Development Officer, Sam Jackman, among them.

Sam will be speaking as part of a five person expert panel on day one – in a session titled ‘New technologies to make coworking operations leaner and tenant experience better’. On the second day, Sam will be speaking about our innovative National Gallery project in a keynote session.

The concept and values of coworking are substantially shaping the landscape across a vast number of areas, including public transport, development of digital and mobile technologies, HR management, office space design and facility management and the development of rural areas.

We are delighted to be adding our voice to this energetic industry and helping to deliver workplaces that are truly fit for purpose.

STATE OF THE ART TOWER AT HEATHROW

In August 2022 we completed our largest build to-date. The 45m state of the art tower and secure compound at Heathrow provides coverage for the National Air Traffic Services business, all UK mobile operators (EE, O2, Three and Vodafone) and Transport for London. It also has the capacity to take future tenants, allowing for additional connectivity in the Heathrow and Feltham area.

Installation of Wi-Fi 6 at Berthon Marina, Lymington.

During the busy season, Berthon Marina has up to 250 boats in residence, all with multiple devices connecting to the marina’s Wi-Fi.  This was creating a heavily congested network environment and a poor end user experience. Connection speeds were grinding to a halt, with berth holders and visitors frequently being disconnected or simply unable to connect. Card payments for fuel or food and beverage became impossible to process with all the associated customer frustrations and commercial impact.

Tunnels are historically tough locations to get a phone signal. Traditional masts provide coverage outdoors to locations that can be seen – tunnels by their nature are underground, compact and often have lots of twists and turns that all stop existing outdoor signals from penetrating inside.

The Tyne Tunnel is no different. Originally opened in 1967, the seven miles of tunnels connect the town of Jarrow with North Shields and Howden. The traffic that passes through the tunnel allows vehicles both a way in and out of Newcastle. Over 40,000 vehicles travel through the Tyne Tunnel every day – that’s over 14,000,000 vehicles a year.
